February 11, 2007 Minutes

Minutes for the February 11, 2007 Meeting

Attendees:  Rob DiFazio, Candace MacLean, John Younger, Bob Hazelwood, Brian Kelley, Jaylene Buonodono, Margaret McCarthy, Sharon McDermot, Cary Short, Leah Evangelista, Alan Sunnerberg, Chris McElaney, Randy Williams, Sue Wollitz

NESS talked about their proposal for the Spring training for ASA.  Brian Kelley passed out an outline of what the training would include with additional qualified coaches in order to help with the amount of kids.  They understood the numbers were not calculated properly in the fall and are willing to accommodate us for the spring.

We also discussed what Mass Youth Soccer’s proposal was for the spring training.  We would have to provide field space and coaches along with their coaches.  We would also have to pay by the hour for however many coaches we needed.  The cost compared to NESS was insignificant when comparing the amount of coaching NESS would be able to provide, plus having the field space.

The Board voted unanimously to pass NESS to provide spring training for our travel teams.

Cary has planned a fundraiser for Flatbreads on Tuesday, March 13th.  There will also be raffles going on during the fundraiser that evening.  Dine in or out will apply.  Please mark your calendars and try to attend.  NESS also offered to post this on their website as well.  Check our website out at amesburyyouthsoccer.org for details.  We will also be sending out a mass email to everyone as a reminder.

The U6/U8 program will be at NESS and dates are TBD.  Sue W. – may have some older girls who would be willing to help out for community service.  Candace will be doing the registration at NESS.  She will be assisting Greg ( a new coach that has been hired to run this program) for the first couple of Saturdays.  The price will be $50 per child for an hour.

Colleen L. will get information into polys once the dates have been set.  Candace will check the dates for registration and the program and let us know.

John Y. will be getting the paperwork signed off this week for the Cashman field.  The U19 girls team will need Cashman for 1 Sunday.  John said he would look into this.  John will call Ron Knowlton to find out the proper channels to go through.

Leah E. got together with Lori Knapp to follow up with the ’04-06 taxes.  Everything will be up to date soon.

Bob H. asked if we wanted to consider opening up summer soccer to other “outside” communities.  Do we have the space to accommodate more kids?  Please think about it and we will discuss at the next meeting.  Both Bob and Cary need more volunteers for the fundraising table this summer.  We may need to get a sub-committee formed for volunteers for the table, snack shack etc.

NESS – would like to send out information to Amesbury about their upcoming camps.  They will withhold any try-out information.  These clinics will be for the kids ages 6-12 from 9-12 or 2-5 M-Thur.  More info. to follow.  They asked to have our address database so they could send out this information.

Margaret talked about the league meeting she attended.  They talked about multiple rostering-based on geography.

Candace will be checking into tryout dates for player evaluations to be held either the first or second week of June.  It will be a similar set-up to last year.  Evaluations – need to be clean cut for a quick reference.

Meeting adjourned 7:40
